Carpet of Life

Carpet of Life is a social design brand. Using authentic craftsmanship, women in the Moroccan Sahara transform your textiles and clothing into a unique design piece. Carpet of Life sees design as a means of empowerment.

I worked closely with the sister-run business to create a seamless brand experience from tone of voice, graphic identity, brand positioning, photography and art direction to digital. My aim was to help them reveal who they are and tell their story in a simplified way. Photographer Sarah Van Looy joined the sisters during a 3 day visit in the Sahara to capture the essence of what gives Carpet of Life their uniqueness. Personal stories reveil that the carpets are seen as memories of loved ones. The use of color refers to the women and the Sahara of M’Hamid El Ghizlane who are the driving force behind the craftsmanship and designs.
