Hermès

Maison Hermès is one of the oldest—since 1837— family-owned-and-controlled luxury fashion companies in France. Hermès started as a harness and saddle workshop and till today they still make their fashion accessories, scarves and ties, belts and ready-to-wear, perfumes, watches and jewelry the way the grandfathers of our grandfathers did.

For their 175th Anniversary they wanted to create a personal thank you for their loyal costumers. It’s important to keep the values of the brand alive and true to its craftsmanship, quality and spirit that makes Hermès what it is. Hermès is most popular for its bags. The factory can only produce 15 a month because much of the entire process is done by hand. I decided to take this as my lead for my design. The outcome is a DIY kit with all necessary tools to make a Hermès leather bag yourself. This all packed in a square box as their iconic orange packaging is a visually desirable item to have. The use of color refers to the history in horse saddles.
