Maison Margiela
Maison Margiela, is a French luxury fashion house headquartered in Paris and founded in 1988 by Belgian designer Martin Margiela. Known for deconstructive and avant-garde designs with unconventional materials, Maison Margiela has traditionally held live shows in unusual settings, for example empty metro stations and street corners. Models' faces are often obscured by fabric or long hair to direct attention to the clothes and design.
After seeing an exhibition in MOMU Antwerp my curiosity for this designer grew. I dedicated myself to fully empathize with the brand. Keywords that apply to Maison Margiela are anonymity, white, avant garde, deconstruction, oversized, re-using items. To gain costumers attention I covered the building on the in and outside with white painted wooden slats. I gave the building a glass roof and used natural TL-lights. As a nod to the origin of the Belgian founder, I used characteristic Belgian beach changing cabins.
